John W. Giltinan

Founder & Principal

John is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh (B.S 1966) and Duquesne University School of Law (J.D. 1974).  For over 34 years John has concentrated his practice on the areas of estate planning, estate administration, elder law, small business planning, tax and real estate.  He is admitted to practice before all Pennsylvania state courts, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the United States Supreme Court.

John is a frequent lecturer to various professional groups on issues related to asset protection, wealth preservation and elder law.  John is a member of Wealth Counsel, a nationwide collaboration of trusts and estates attorneys and other legal, tax and business professionals.  He is also a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, American Bar Association, the Advisors Form and Elder Counsel.

As the principal and founder of the firm John serves his clients by working closely with them to develop plans that reflect his client’s own unique situations.

LeeAnn G. Syme

Attorney at Law

LeeAnn is an attorney at John W. Giltinan, Esq., P.C. located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She focuses her practice on Elder Law, Estate and Trust Planning, Special Needs Planning, Estate and Trust Administration and Orphans’ Court Litigation. LeeAnn frequently presents seminars on Estate Planning, Elder Law and Estate Administration throughout Allegheny County.

LeeAnn earned her law degree at Duquesne University and was a member of the Law Review and Student Bar Association. LeeAnn is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and Elder Counsel. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Fair Oaks of Pittsburgh.

For more than a decade LeeAnn has been working with families to create all levels of estate plans. From disability planning to long-term care crisis planning, the goal is to provide clients with the peace of mind that their life savings will be protected, their family will be provided for, and that matters will be handled effectively and efficiently.

LeeAnn resides in Canonsburg with her husband and two children.

Timothy J. Giltinan

Attorney at Law

After graduating from St. Vincent College in 2002, Tim came to work at the firm for the summer to assist firm attorneys with the administration of several estates.  Since then, Tim has continued to work at the firm while obtaining his Masters in Business Administration (Duquesne 2005) and his Juris Doctorate (Duquesne 2008).  Tim no longer considers himself a temporary employee and officially joined the firm as an attorney in the fall of 2008.

Tim practices in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, elder law, small business planning, tax and real estate.  He is admitted to practice before all Pennsylvania state courts and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Tim is a member of Wealth Counsel, The Advisors Forum, Elder Counsel and the Allegheny County Bar Association.

Mary A. Traupman

Attorney at Law

Sr. Mary is a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence. She has had many years of professional experience in education and health care, including administration, legal service and adjunct faculty status in Duquesne University’s Rangos School of Health Sciences.

Her education includes a B.A., magna cum laude, with a concentration in mathematics from LaRoche College; an M.S. with a concentration in mathematics (on grant from National Science Foundation) from the University of Notre Dame; an M.B.A. with an emphasis on management in not-for-profit institutions from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Business; a Certificate from the Hospital Executive Development Program at St. Louis University and a J.D. from Duquesne University Law School.

Sr. Mary has lectured extensively on the subject of healthcare decision making and advance directives for healthcare. Currently, Sr. Mary concentrates her practice in the area of elder law and guardianships.

Karen L. Romas

Firm Administrator

Karen has over twenty-five years experience working with law firms.  She joined this firm in October 1990 and has kept the firm operating smoothly ever since.

Karen works with firm attorneys and clients in all areas of estate planning, including the preparation of documents, funding of trusts, transfers of real estate, and assisting clients in making lifetime gifts.

She oversees the firm’s administration work for guardianships, trusts and decedents’ estates.  Karen has an expertise in the use of the Lackner  6 in 1, a computer software program that makes possible the efficient administration of estates and trusts.  She keeps our clients informed and responds to their requests for information.

Karen served in the United States Army, 3rd Armored Division in Communications in Frankfurt, Germany.
